Where we live

We all live on the surface of a planet orbiting the Sun. All that we do amounts to moving stuff and energy around the surface, or close to the surface of this planet. The planet Earth doesn't belong to us and the Sun doesn't belong to us either. The only reason that we can survive here is because of the energy which was generated by nuclear fusion in the Sun. This energy travels to Earth, warming it, allowing plants to grow and to generate oxygen for us to breath, giving us food to eat and allowing us to do everything that we do. Without the Sun we would have no energy and we would not live. The Sun is life for us. Even the fossil fuels which we burn contain the energy from yesterday's sunlight. Only nuclear energy is different, like our own little sun. Even then we create a tiny amount of the energy which the Sun gives us free every day without asking for anything in return. What could make more sense than worshipping and giving thanks for this free energy which makes our lives possible and which sustains us every day of our lives?

Empty Lives

We all have a need to find meaning in our lives. Our daily lives can seem empty, even when the days are too full. In our struggle to fit everything in, to balance free time with work or study, it is easy to ignore our spiritual needs to concentrate on the physical things, fleeting things which seem important today but which will be barely remembered in a few months. Our spirituality is what gives us continued meaning, what keeps us sane in an insane world and is that which comforts us when times are difficult.

Finding the way ...

Finding the way that works for us can be as simple as accepting one of the religions present where we grow up or where we live. Some people take a spiritual journey and eventually find what they are seeking. Others continue to seek their whole lives.

Sunworshipping

Sunworshipping is not an exclusive way. It doesn't bar you from holding one or more religious faiths. That is up to you, or to the leaders of your faith, to decide. Take what you want from a religion or a way, as long as no-one gets hurt. We do not discriminate. How you choose to worship the sun is up to you, again as long as nobody gets hurt.
